Settings: sensitivity, HUD, graphics and audio
Recommended in-game settings for DMZ: Recon with starting sensitivity ranges, HUD layout advice for 3- and 4-finger claw, and the graphics options that protect your frame rate.

Settings are personal, but DMZ: Recon punishes a few defaults harder than Multiplayer does. Use the ranges below as starting points, then change one slider per session.
Controls
- Mode: Advanced. Simple mode’s auto-fire gives away your position to AI and to every squad in earshot.
- Fire button: keep separate ADS and fire buttons; hip-fire is a real tool indoors.
- Layout: 3-finger claw (left thumb move, right thumb aim, right index fire) is the floor. 4-finger adds a left-index jump/slide. Place the plate button where your right thumb lands without looking.
- Quick run (auto-sprint): on. Slide: mapped, not gesture-based.
- Always sprint: off in DMZ. You will walk into AI you wanted to sneak past.
- ADS behavior: Hold for snipers, toggle for everything else. Many players run Hold globally; try both in a private match.
- Gyroscope: Always On for Battle Royale-style modes if you can tolerate it; it is the single biggest aim upgrade on mobile. Start at gyro sensitivity 150 to 250 for ADS.
Sensitivity starting ranges (Advanced mode)
| Slider | Start | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (camera) | 60 – 90 | Higher is fine if you clear corners in Building 21 a lot. |
| ADS 1x / red dot | 55 – 80 | Match this to standard; most mis-aims come from a mismatch. |
| ADS 2x – 3x | 45 – 65 | |
| Sniper scope | 30 – 50 | Lower helps with DL Q33 flicks at range. |
| Gyro camera | 100 – 150 | Only if gyro is on. |
| Gyro ADS | 150 – 250 |
Aim assist: on. DMZ: Recon lobbies are full of controller-free thumb players; there is no stigma and it helps against AI.
HUD
- Shrink the minimap only if you cannot see the radiation cloud edge; otherwise keep it large. The cloud and exfil markers matter more than kill feed.
- Move the ping wheel somewhere you can reach while moving. Pings are how squads survive without voice chat.
- Turn health bar numbers on. “Half plates” is not a callout.
- Hide the killcam auto-replay so you can watch the squad instead.
Graphics
- Frame rate: Max / Ultra beats any visual option. Drop graphics quality to Medium or Low to hold it.
- Shadows and ragdolls off. They cost frames and hide players in Building 21 corners.
- Depth of field off, bloom off, anti-aliasing on if your device holds frame rate with it.
- Field of view: 75 – 85 in BR-style modes. Wider shows more of the room but shrinks targets at range.
- Enable the frame-rate counter so you notice when a background app is stealing frames.
Audio
- Headphones. Footsteps and AI chatter are directional and DMZ: Recon AI telegraphs its position constantly.
- Music off. The Rebirth Island cutscene is cool once.
- Push-to-talk on an easily reached button. Open mic in a three-stack is how your position leaks on the ship exfil.
Network
- Prefer 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a solid 5G connection; the ping readout in Settings → Network is the authoritative number, not a third-party tester.
- Keep network boost / dual channel on if your device supports it. It does not change server selection, only reliability.
